Physical Description
Samara is a human woman in her mid 20s that stands about 5'7". When she first joined the Evening Star, she wore her vivid red hair short but has since let it grow out and now wears it drawn into a long pony tail. Her figure is lithe but deceptively muscular and exceedingly well toned. Her usual attire is a rather worn grey cloak and similarly non-descript armor. She doesn't dress to impress and is content with a somewhat mundane appearance that draws no attention to herself.
In battle, Samara wields a pair of slender daggers named Sehedion and Chandrahas. Chandrahas looks rather unremarkable however Sehedion has a very distinct, wavy blade. Also during battle, Samara appears to surround herself with darkness as her eyes take on a very inhuman red glow. During a fight with one of the angels, Samara's entire form was covered by swirling darkness for unknown reasons.
Personality Description
Samara is surprisingly cheerful considering her occupation as assassin. While she does enjoy a bit of dark humor and teasing those around her, she rarely means anything by it and is strangely optimistic in even the most dire circumstances. She wears a smile that ranges from genuinely pleasant to sardonic much of the time.
Dealing with Samara is a pretty straight forward affair. When contracted to do something, she does it and respects people of similar mindsets. One of the many things Samara learned from Nightscape was the motto of "The one with the fewest enemies lives the longest." Following that, Samara has applied that to her work in that she limits her killing to only those who are specifically contracted to die. Thierry "Moonblade" Assante was a guild rival of Samara's she had a grudge against for doing just the opposite—drawing unwarranted attention to himself and Nightscape.
Outside of work, Samara enjoys dressing up, dancing, and just laying out under a beautiful night sky admiring the stars.
The Partial Story
Samara is a former assassin of Nightscape. She was reputed to have considerable influence within the guild before her departure. No one actually seems to know why she left or even why she joined the Evening Star. Even as the Evening Star has grown more famous, that aspect of Samara's past has been downplayed heavily to the point where few people even know about it.
The Full Story
The circumstances surrounding Samara's birth are mysterious even to her. She has been a member of Nightscape as long as she can remember. She grew up as a member of Nightscape learning to steal, run, fight, and kill at a very young age. As disciplined as she would grow up to be is as mischievious as she was growing up. If young Samara wasn't getting into trouble somewhere then something was terribly, terribly wrong.
As she got a little older, people started noticing Samara. She made friends, enemies, and pretty much everything in between. There were some good times and some painful ones. She learned a lot of hard lessons along the way however it was because she learned those lessons and learned them well that she survived. Somewhere along the way the young red-haired demon child that had terrorized the streets grew up into a sensible and intelligent young woman.
As more years passed and many things changed, some things didn't change. On restless nights, Samara would find a perch on a rooftop somewhere, lay down, and just stare up at the stars. She would dream of things. Some nights she would dream of being the best thief in the world able to steal anything. Other nights it would be the best assassin in the world able to kill anyone. And, on other nights still, it would be living in a world where she could carve out a life for herself as neither.
Time provides provides opportunities to make dreams come true for those strong enough to grasp them. Maybe it was temporary insanity or maybe she was ready for a change but, as Samara sat there listening to Alicia and Ereski bicker and argue with their fists, something clicked. Something told her this was a good change. Samara was restless and adventuring sounded pretty good right about then.
So it was that Samara put out word that she would be "leaving" Nightscape. No one truly "leaves" Nightscape so it was met with a lot of skepticism. Samara wasn't extremely well-known, but those who knew her understood that she was very talented and very dangerous. Maybe some part of Samara worried the guild would react drastically, but she wanted space and her friends in Nightscape seemed to understand. Samara was relieved that, if anything, her contacts seemed more disappointed in not having her around than upset.
A good bit of time passed between when Samara, Ereski, and Alicia formed the Evening Star and that day—the day a writ of assassination appeared on Samara's proverbial door. She looked at it and considered it. She could ignore it, but the pay was pretty good and Nightscape hadn't bothered her in quite a while. Without a word Samara disappeared that weekend as did a very wealthy individual who had made quite a few enemies. The only difference was that Samara reappeared.
Another writ came followed by another and another. Samara's in-between adventure disappearing became more and more common. Before she knew it, she was back into the business she always had been and, in all honesty, had never truly left. She was happy though. It felt like she had the best of all possible worlds.
