This mysterious religious text was recovered from the mountains beneath Arx two centuries ago. It is not a part of any sanctioned book dedicated to the Goddess, nor is it referenced thereby. Rather, it seems to be a fragment of a much older text, the rest of which has been lost to history. The Goddess Tower is on record as stating that they believe it comes from a time even before Mourclesis; the Hands of the Goddess, however, continue to declare it apocryphal, and it has only been read by those few scholars with connections to Guardian Executors willing to let classified material slip.
"Fierce and cruel were the twelve demon lords who declared their eternal War against Man. Enemies of both Heaven and Earth, three were destroyed forever by the Righteous, leaving nine to forever torment the Faithful. These great Beings of Malice may take any shape. Beware them well, lest you Sin while thinking yourself upright.
The nine dark princes that remain are but lesser aspects of the lachesdaemir." (Bulov's note: this word has proved difficult to translate from the language of the old empire, and is usually left in that form. My best attempt at it would be "dark guardians of the gates.")
Know the names of the demons well, for they are bound to ever use their true titles, and in the knowing, you might fortify your Soul for the Trial to come.
The First: Abigor, the General, who commands sixty legions of the Damned.
The Second: Ayperos, the Vain, who steals from Men that he might dress himself and his kin.
The Third: Deumos, the Graceless One, who wields the false beauty of her Fallen Women.
The Fourth: Crocell, the Grand Duke, who appears as a High Seraph to deceive Men's hearts.
The Fifth: Kasdeya, the Tyrant, who steals Men's souls and makes them his slaves.
The Sixth: Mastema, the Accuser, whose blades give shape to Sin and leave Man trembling before Heaven.
The Seventh: Nergal, the Spider, who lurks in the shadows and Unseen draws Men into his dark web.
The Eighth: Semiazas, the Faceless, who makes Men's hearts explode. (Bulov's note: also a difficult translation, but this seems accurate to me.)
The Ninth: Xaphan, the Furnace, who reduces Everything to ash at the End Times.
